According to the Journal of OPENAI modifications, GPT-4O constantly surpasses its predecessor in the fields of writing, programming and science during comparisons. The replacement surprises little, in line with the rapid advancement of Chatgpt which has an even more reinforced memory.

When it was launched in 2022, GPT-3.5 was the default model before being replaced by GPT-4, in March 2023. Since then, these two AIs have been exceeded by GPT-4O, considered more efficient. And it is time for GPT-4 to bow on April 30, 2025, to give way to GPT-4O while waiting for GPT-5 which was rejected.
When it was released in May 2024, GPT-4O, with “o” For “Omni” which refers to the multimodal capabilities of the model, has been a major evolution.
